Caps to Cap-Haitien

Today Eryn's friend Kylie came over and they made infant caps on my serger for the Caps to Cap-Haitien project. These hats will be a part of Safe Birthing Kits to be distributed by traditional birth attendants in the desperately poor Fort St. Michel area of Cap-Haitien in Haiti.

Eryn has really taken an interest in this project and in learning about other people around the world living in poverty. She has a notebook where she is keeping her thoughts on ways to help and she has been interviewing everyone she knows asking for ideas. Part One of her plan is to learn about other cultures and living conditions around the world. We are currently reading A Life Like Mine as part of that step. Projects like the one she did today are the next step in her plan.

Ely playing Memory. Each time he found a match, he examined it with his magnifying glass.
