Day one and two were spent driving from Georgia to Santa Fe, NM. The traveling went really well with the exception of some minor technical issues with the car and camper (one that we fixed with some duct tape and one that involved us being flagged down by another driver). Our kids are the most amazing travelers, which is how we were able to go so far in only two days.

We ate every meal at rest areas or parks (some were very hot and buggy), all with food that we made ahead of time and brought with us.

We spent the first night in Arkansas at a KOA campground (again very hot and buggy).

On the second day we were driving through Texas and Tim noticed that there were a bunch of cars stuck in the ground on a side road off the highway. I didn't see the cars but as soon as he said it I knew it must be Cadillac Ranch. So we turned around and pulled over.




There were lots of cans of spray paint lying around but they were all empty so we just took pictures.

When I saw all of these caps lying around the first thing I thought of is that I wonder what a future archaeologist might think one day if s/he came across a field full of plastic spray paint lids.

We did find a can of spray paint on our way out so Tim painted an orange E on the gate.

We planned to spend night two in Santa Rosa, NM but at that point we were so close to Santa Fe that we just went on. We wanted to make it there by 9pm since that is when the campground office closed - we pulled in at 8:59.
