We started off the day with a visit to the local farmer's market and then a trip to the Rainbow's End thrift store next door. It really did turn out to be the rainbow's end. (If you consider a huge bag of vintage Corelle plates for $5 to be the rainbow's end like I do.)
Then we headed to Great Sand Dunes National Park.
We checked out the visitor center, had a picnic lunch and then went to one of the sand dunes trails. We were not really prepared for a long hike but we were still able to walk quite a ways into the dunes. As we hiked Finn kept saying "Here we go up the sandcastles."
It was a little windy and the sand was really hot but it was a great hike.

Then it was back to the campground for playground time again.
