On day five we ended up driving a couple hundred miles around New Mexico. First we took the High Road to Taos for the scenic view. In Taos we went to the Taos Pueblo, which was built around 1,000 years ago. We walked around and viewed the dwellings and the crafts for sale.
Next we drove the Low Road back from Taos along the Rio Grande and then on to Abiquiu and to Ghost Ranch, both places where Georgia O'Keeffe made her home in New Mexico.
Ghost Ranch has an anthropology and a paleontology museum. They are both small and free, which was perfect for us. We were the only patrons in the dinosaur museum and while we were there the staff paleontologist came in and let us look through the microscope. He told us about the excavations at Ghost Ranch and gave the kids some rough diamonds to take home.

We headed back to Santa Fe for our last night and dinner at Annapurna's World Vegetarian Cafe.
